Richard Sheargold

Richard commenced work in the financial services, private equity and investment banking in 1989. 

As the Principal and owner of Stonebridge Capital, Richard is able to assist clients with portfolio construction and investment selection, superannuation, tax effective strategies and social security planning, estate planning and personal risk protection.

His expertise and background in funds management, private equity and investment banking provide the capability for him to deliver advice to reach clients’ ongoing financial objectives. Richard’s knowledge and experience of all asset classes and alternative assets in conjunction with an ongoing review of the external environment ensures our clients’ changing needs are met.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Financial Administration Degree and is a Certified Practising Accountant. He also holds a Diploma of Financial Planning. With these qualifications and his extensive experience, Richard is well qualified to help clients achieve their financial goals.

Richard is committed to building long term relationships with his clients and providing them with bespoke professional advice and personal service.

Outside of work Richard loves sport and still dons the cricket boots to play the odd game for the SCG XI. He longs to be a single figure golfer and is a mad Wallaby and Panthers supporter. His primary love though is spending time with his wife and two young daughters.


Bridget Sheargold

Bridget commenced work in financial services and investment banking in London in 1996. Bridget holds an Honours degree in Biochemistry (Dux at University) and is a Chartered Accountant. Bridget’s outstanding academic record includes a top 10 place in the prestigious British Chartered Accountancy exams.

Bridget’s experience includes five years as a senior auditor for a large global chartered accountancy organisation, four years with Credit Suisse in Fixed Interest derivatives and various roles in other global investment banks in Equity Derivative Product Control. Recently Bridget has consulted to a boutique private equity firm.

Bridget is one of the two directors and Finance Director of Balmedie Financial Pty Ltd, the licensee of Stonebridge Capital. Bridget runs a tight ship and ensures all clients are being serviced to the full potential and are getting value for money. Bridget’s focus is on the daily management of the Balmedie Financial Pty ltd licence and compliance. Bridget is also the Responsible Manager of the Balmedie licence ensuring that we comply with ASIC regulation and follows the tight industry compliance policies outlined by industry bodies and Government authorities.

Outside of work Bridget is a mother and enjoys running and tennis. Prior to having her first baby Bridget completed the Sydney half marathon in a very creditable time.

Bridget is a product of the beautiful Yorkshire Moors in the north of England and loves to visit her family at the foot of the Moors.


Matt Milnes

With over a decade of experience – and almost the same amount of time studying, Matt has grounded himself in the industry. He enjoys guiding people and has found through his client interactions true job satisfaction when he sees the client identifies the value and benefits of the advice.

Having experience across all client demographics from people looking to buy their first house, through to distribution of estate benefits and everything in between, Matt stands in good stead to provide value to people from his advice taking a truly holistic approach. Matt’s goal for his clients is to provide them with outstanding and relevant advice to help them meet their future goals.

Matt is committed to building long term relationships with his clients and providing them with bespoke professional advice and personal service.

Matt is a current member of the Financial Planners Association of Australia – AFP®, a registered Tax (Financial) Adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board, a NSW Justice of the Peace and a fully unrestricted authorised representative of the Balmedie Financial license.

Matt has completed all relevant qualifications from a Graduate Diploma of Financial Services, Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning and specialist training in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds and Margin Lending strategies. Matt is currently studying a Masters Degree in Financial Planning with an expected finish time 2018.

Outside of the office Matt enjoys golf, rugby league, travelling, cars, and just generally getting out there and appreciating life with family and friends!
